If you're looking for a reason to spend some time in downtown Milford this weekend, there are two.

The Black Bear Film Festival returns to Milford, continuing a tradition that began in 2000. The festival brings independent films and filmmakers to town, with the historic Milford Theater at the center of the weekend.

It's one of those events you might not expect to find in a small town—and part of what makes Milford interesting.

But film isn't the only thing happening.

On Saturday, October 10, Toast to Milford gives you another reason to walk around town. Local shops, eateries and other businesses participate with complimentary bites and beverages, making it an easy way to explore downtown and perhaps discover somewhere you haven't stopped before.

Together, the two events make for a pretty good October weekend in Milford: catch a film, walk around town, pop into some local businesses and enjoy a little fall in the Poconos.

Sometimes the best way to get to know Milford is simply to spend a day here.
